THE 1492 is an all tube stereo power amp for electric guitar. A
couple of 12AX7, a couple of 7025 and four 5881 provide an output
power of more than 65 W for each channel.
The preamp/driver section features a particular circuitry, developed by
ADVANCE TUBE TECHNOLOGY, which allows the tubes to release a powerful
sound with an excellent tone.
Details
THE 1492 allows significant variations in tone, thanks to its
three different configurations: Pentode, Ultralinear and Triode.
These three modes place the active elements of the power amp at different
steps in the dynamic range, enabling the player to obtain tonal variations
witch can be very hard to achieve using only the preamp tone controls.
The Pentode configuration displays
a powerful and aggressive sound, with a particular shape and attack, which
makes it the best setting for every situation in which the guitar plays
the biggest part ( rock, metal et sim. ).
The Ultralinear configuration offers
a cleaner and more linear sound, even though maintaining the same thickness
as the Pentode. This is great in those situations where the player has
to compromise between power and tonal colours ( fusion, jazz-rock, pop,
funky ).
The Triode mode is particularly suited
for music styles where nuances and warmth are more important than power:
blues, jazz, new age.
The three operating modes can be selected by the two buttons on the rear
panel. The active mode is visualized on the front panel.
THE 1492 has two different presence controls:
- Presence A, manageable by a single control on both channels, is a
traditional cut operating on the final stage
- Presence B, also manageable by a single control for both channels, operates
on the driver stage and provides a more effective cut.
Presence B can be managed by a pedal or a MIDI switcher.
THE 1492 has a choice of two tube fan speeds:
a high speed for the continuos use with high powerrange and a slower and
noiseless speed, indicated for particular situations where the noise of
the fan could affect the sound.
On the front panel we find the separated volume controls for channels
L and R, the stereo controls for Presence A and Presence B, a power button,
two separated stand-by buttons for the enabling of the two channels, a
led relating to Presence B, a led indicating fan speed and three leds
indicating the operating modes.
On the rear panel there are the stereo/mono inputs, 4, 8 and 16 ohm outputs
for the connection to the speaker, a 600 ohm stereo line output for D.I.
connection, a connection to the switcher for Presence B, separated fuses
for the two final stages, a boost driver selector, a ground lift selector,
a fan speed selector, two selectors for the three configurations
and a power input, with enclosed fuse and a spare fuse.
